Weight Issues

Whether you need to lose, gain, or just maintain your ideal weight, it is most important to develop a pleasant and enjoyable relationship with food.  Situations involving food can become comfortable everyday events without the fears sometimes associated with eating food and gaining weight.  Thought patterns and habits can be changed in order to develop this comfortable and happy relationship with food.  In working through her own weight issues, Dr. Ferguson learned how to get in tune with her body’s nutritional needs, to eat according to those needs and never have to be on a “diet” again.  Teaching others how to work through this process is one of the areas Dr. Ferguson specializes in.

One of the key factors to resolving a weight issue is finding the underlying cause.   Why do we eat for reasons other than nutritional hunger?  Why do we resort to extreme measures to stay thin?

Reaching and maintaining your ideal weight requires a comfortable relationship with food, being at ease with your body image and adding some type of exercise plan.  Continually going on and off “diets” can affect the body’s metabolism and make the process of losing weight more difficult.  The desire to be thin and meet an unrealistic media image can lead to disordered eating behavior.  This behavior can develop into an eating disorder which can be life threatening.

The goal of Aloe Hills Naturopathic is to help you discover how to eat what your body wants in quantities that will satisfy your body’s   nutritional needs.  Through this process, you can become comfortable with your body, and enjoying food can become a pleasant part of your life instead of a continual area of stress.  Learn how to eat good wholesome foods and forget about “dieting.”
